Pupils' lesson in saying no to Cigarettes
A NO smoking message has put these young pupils off Cigarettes for life.
A NO smoking message has put these young pupils off Cigarettes for life.
And children at Richard Avenue Primary School, Barnes, Sunderland, are now spreading their own healthy message.
In the wake of national No Smoking Day, the school put on events and activities aimed at encouraging youngsters to always say no to Cigarettes.
Glenda Wood, a teacher at the school, said the past few days had included a visit by a nurse, talking to children and showing them pictures about the damage Cigarettes can do to the body.
Other activities included the youngsters designing no smoking posters and working with family groups.
Glenda said: "We thought it was an ideal way of talking to the children about the dangers of Cigarettes and the harm they do.
"Hopefully if we can get the message across at an early age then they won't smoke when they get older."
